Why people love Turtle Mountain
Turtle Mountain is a hillside neighbourhood on the west side of Vernon, just above Alexis Park, and one of the closest view neighbourhoods to downtown. Wesbild bought the land in 2005 and started selling lots in 2006. The lots are tiered up the slope so homes look out over Okanagan Lake, Swan Lake and the city.
It was planned with nature in mind. Wildlife corridors run through the neighbourhood, the street lights are dark-sky friendly so you can still see the stars, and the Grey Canal Trail runs nearby. Design guidelines call for Craftsman and Prairie-style homes, which gives the streets a consistent, tidy look.
You drive in from 39th Avenue. Downtown Vernon and the hospital are about five to eight minutes away, which is a big part of the appeal for families and professionals.
